My Story

Built by one person, because the tool I wanted didn't exist.

First, the thing you should know up front: RankAnything is one person. Not a company, not a startup, not a team. Just me, building and running this in my spare time and paying the hosting bill out of pocket.

It started with a simple question: is there a free website where you can create a ranking poll, upload images for each option, allow unlimited choices, and let anyone vote without making an account?

The answer, surprisingly, was no. Every tool I found either capped the number of options, locked image support behind a paywall, required voters to sign up, or limited how many people could participate. The closest options were either paid, clunky, or clearly built for something else entirely.

So I built RankAnything.

The first poll was a Civilization VII question: which leaders are the hardest to face as rivals? It went up on Reddit, the community voted, and within hours there was real data on what the playerbase actually thought. That's when it clicked: people genuinely want to settle these debates, and the tool to do it just hadn't existed yet.

RankAnything is built around one idea: ranking polls should be visual, free, and frictionless. No account. No limits on options. Images supported. Results that update live as votes come in.

Being a one-person site cuts both ways, so it is worth being honest about it. Nothing here is tracked and sold, there are no investors to answer to, and features get built because someone asked rather than because a roadmap demanded them. On the other hand, replies to messages can take a while, and there is no support team behind me. If something is broken or you need a poll changed, send me a note and it reaches me directly.

Whether you're ranking Pokémon, debating the best fast food chains, settling an Elden Ring boss argument, or running a community poll for your Discord server, this is the place for it.

What makes RankAnything different

Free, always

No paywalls, no premium tiers for basic features. Creating and voting on polls is free.

No account needed

Voters never need to sign up. Share a link, they vote. That's it.

Unlimited options

Rank 5 things or 500 things. No artificial caps on how many options your poll can have.

Image support

Upload images for every option. Visual polls get more engagement and are easier to interact with.

Live results

Results update in real time as votes come in. Watch the community consensus form.

Drag-and-drop ranking

Voters drag options into their preferred order, which says a lot more than a simple upvote.
